Care Flight to cut ribbon on new Truckee crew quarters

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; On Thursday at 4 p.m., Care Flight and the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting at the new 24-hour crew quarters for Care Flight, located at 12111 Chandelle Way at the Truckee Tahoe Airport, officials announced Tuesday.

Care Flight began operating out of Truckee 12 hours per day, 7 days a week in 2003, according to a press release. The operation was part time, and the Truckee Fire Protection District allowed the helicopterand#8217;s pilot and medical staff to share the living area at Station 96 when they were not flying.

In 2006, Care Flight converted to 24-hour operations out of Truckee, according to the release, and was housed in various short-term venues, before moving to the Chandelle Way building in October 2011.



and#8220;Really, the whole community of Truckee has welcomed us with open arms and have treated Care Flight like family from day one,and#8221; said Temple Fletcher, program director at Care Flight.
