Carson tops North Tahoe girls soccer

The North Tahoe girls soccer team suffered a bruising 5-1 loss at 4A powerhouse Carson on Monday afternoon.

The story of the game was Laker goalkeeper Kea Jolicoeur, who threw down some mammoth goalkeeping and tallied 15 saves out of 20 registered shots.

Laker head coach Hans Paladini said North Tahoe played the Senators very evenly for most of the game, and a majority of the goals came near the end when Joliceur got kicked in the head making a series of saves. After that, she appeared a bit distracted, and the Senators pulled away.

North Tahoe’s only goal came off a shot from Michelle Zarick, which was blocked in the goalmouth by Carson’s goalkeeper before the rebound was followed up and converted by Sage Clark.

“I think we were right there,” Paladini said.

Paladini said that North Tahoe had enough opportunities that were so close they could have gone either way, and if they had, it would’ve made a difference in the outcome.

Zarick hit the crossbar on one shot and both Clark and Chelsea Patrick had near misses during the game.
