CATT gives to local education

The Regional Occupational Program of construction technologies at Tahoe-Truckee High School received a $1,000 donation from the Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe (CATT) on Monday, March 19.

The check was presented to ROP students Esteban Peralta, Pablo Esparza and David Orozco, by CATT Member Syd Bartlett of Syd Bartlett Construction.

The donation will contribute to supplies needed to continue the design and construction of a mock kitchen one-bath unit which is being built by these ROP students in the woodshop area.

Under the leadership of Kevin Coleman, students are offered a hands-on approach to shop work and education in their specific area of interest. The program currently consists of nine students, eight of whom are currently employed by local contractors. Kevin acts as a coach preparing his students for on-the-job training. Kevin plans to further expand the program and he has room for more students in his woodshop class.

If you are interested in learning more about Kevin’s ROP Construction Technologies program, please call him at Truckee High School at 582-7630.
