Chain control requirements have been lifted for vehicles traveling on Interstate 80, the California Department of Transportation said on Sunday, March 4.

Chains are required on all vehicles traveling eastbound on Interstate 80, except 4-wheel drive vehicles with snow tires on all four wheels, from 1 mile east of Baxter in Placer County to 7 miles east of Truckee in Nevada County, the California Department of Transportation said in a message at 7:57 p.m. on Saturday, March 3.

Chains are also required on all vehicles traveling westbound on I-80, except 4-wheel drive vehicles with snow tires on all four wheels, from 11 miles west of the Nevada state line to 1 mile east of Baxter.
