Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Dinner Wednesday
The Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce will be holding its 47th Annual Dinner and Pandora’s Auction on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at Northstar-at-Tahoe in the Chaparral Room beginning at 5 p.m.”Several things happen at the Annual Dinner,” said Rachelle Pellissier, Chamber President/CEO. “The Annual Awards are presented to honor Truckee businesses and business people, the 2000/2001 Board of Directors is installed, there is a great auction, and we eat, drink and be merry, and, hopefully, have a little fun, too!”The Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce announced the nominations for their Annual Awards.Nominations for Chamber Member of the Year, Small Business/Person of the Year, the Volunteer of the Year, the Hospitality Award, and the New Member of the Year have been received and the winners have been selected by the Board of Directors.Longs Drugs, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Porter/Simon, and Sugar Bowl were nominated as Chamber Member of the Year for their complete commitment to the local community, support in solving the issues facing the community, their enhancement or investment in the area’s economy, their contributions to the local labor market through career opportunities, and finally, their support of the Chamber.Cottonwood, EventMasters, First Realty of Truckee Tahoe, Lisa’s Organics, Second Home Care, Sierra Business Council, Sweets Handmade Candies, Truckee River Llama Ranch and White Buffalo have been nominated for Small Business/Person of the Year, recognizing these entrepreneurs for their staying power and growth in our business climate, and their service and contribution to the community.The Hospitality Award has eight nominees; Lindy Kramer-The Treehouse; Mail Boxes, Etc.; Mike Diaz-Taco Station; Rosemary Wood-White Buffalo; The Sign Shop; Truckee Massage & Wellness Center; Truckee River Winery; and Truckee Tahoe Limousine Tours. Each portrays the warmth, charm and character of Truckee and sets the standards for public relations to the visitor population and local community, alike.Nominees for the Volunteer of the Year are Kathleen Eagan, Cliff and Joan Hartwell, Pattie & Hartley Lesser, Kappy Mann, Jim Porter and Johnny Pierce.New Member of the Year nominees are Florian’s Fine Wines & Specialty Foods, IntraWest, Serve Our Seniors, Tahoe Women’s Services, Truckee Tahoe Cabinets & Tints, and Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation.For the 9th year, the Annual Dinner features Pandora’s Auction, a shopper’s extravaganza made possible by Chamber member donations as a fund-raiser for the Chamber. A buffet dinner is included in the ticket price.Cost for attending the 47th Annual Chamber Dinner & Pandora’s Action is $30 per person if received by Sept. 22 and $35 per person if received after that.
