Children’s bike race, duathlon approaching
AWANA Clubs at Sierra Bible Church will host a bike race and duathlon for boys and girls grades Kindergarten through sixth grade on Sept. 25 at 6 p.m.
Sierra Bible Church is located at 11460 Brockway Road across from Mountain Home Center.
The event is free to children, who are asked to bring their bikes as well as a helmet and running shoes. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m. Parents must be present to sign a release form.
XTERRA triathlete Jamie Whitmore, the 2004 World Champion, and her husband, Courtney Cardenas, last year’s “Mr. XTERRA 2006” will be the special guest speakers after the race.

CHP: Drunk driver hits tree near Nyack Road
A car driving westbound on Interstate 80 near Nyack Road veered off the highway and hit a tree around 7:55 a.m. Thursday, the California Highway Patrol said.
