Lawrence Jenkins Chunn was taken from us suddenly on Dec. 22 at Lake Tahoe, California, at age 55.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on Jan. 11, 1952, Larry graduated from the University of California, Davis, in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and anthropology. He lived in Davis from his college years forward, and was self-employed as a painting contractor in the area for 35 years.

He also spent his leisure time with his wife, Betsy, at his family’s home in Brockway.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy; his two children, Jessica Chunn and Travis Chunn; his mother, Florence Chunn of Fair Oaks; and his sister, Adele Stinson of San Jose. He will also be greatly missed by Betsy’s family of San Diego, Victoria, British Columbia, and Pahrump, Nevada.

Fun-loving, generous, kind, a master repairman and a great cook, Larry was known for his oysters Rockefeller, shrimp cocktail, barbecued ham, and Chex mix treats, which he shared with everyone. He loved to travel, loved animals, and could diagnose a car problem from five states away.

In celebration of his life, a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at the United Methodist Church at 1620 Anderson Road, Davis. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that a memorial donation be made to the donor’s favorite charity or to the Larry Chunn Memorial Fund.
