Tired of seeing trash in your neighborhood? Well, ’tis the season for spring cleaning, and three different events are coming to the area in the coming weeks that will make our streets spic and span.

North Tahoe Cleanup Day: Join members of the North Tahoe Business Association (NTBA) Main Street program and North Tahoe Public Utility District in keeping Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista beautiful at North Lake Tahoe Cleanup Day, on Saturday, June 3. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at two locations ” the North Tahoe Conference Center parking lot in Kings Beach and Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort in Tahoe Vista. After the cleanup, celebrate with a barbecue. Call 546-9000.

Truckee Day: Truckee Day is Saturday, June 3. Last year, 1,000 volunteers hit the streets and picked up more than nine tons of trash. In addition to the roadside cleanup, a town-wide block party will take place at noon at Truckee River Regional Park. Cleanup volunteers will get free entry and food, and there will be live music. For more information contact Nichole Dorr at the Town of Truckee at 582-7707, or visit

Donner Summit Cleanup Day: Join in the 20-something annual Donner Summit Cleanup Day on Saturday, June 17. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Soda Springs Store. Garbage bags and water will be provided. Bring a pair of work gloves, a big hat and plenty of sunscreen. There will be a party afterward to celebrate this ongoing event (location TBA). Children and pets on leashes are welcome.
