Cloudy and colder with scattered light snowshowers today

A cold low pressure system will sweep across the Tahoe area today bring much colder temperatures and scattered snow showers by afternoon.
Highs today are forecast to reach the upper 30s to lower 40s around the lake and the mid 20s at the 8,000 foot resort level. Look for brisk southwest winds 15 to 25 mph developing by late morning with gusts to 50 mph along the Sierra crest.
Snow accumulations are expected to be light and localized with 1 to 2 inches possible in the upper elevations and an inch or less at lake level by late tonight. Lows tonight are forecast to drop into the upper teens to lower 20s around the lake with clearing skies.
A partly cloudy and cool day is forecast on Wednesday as the upper low moves east of our area into Utah. Highs on Wednesday are expected to reach the mid to upper 40s around the lake with north winds 10 to 15 mph.
Computer models are similar building a strong upper level high pressure ridge over the Tahoe area Thursday and into the coming weekend. Daytime temperatures are projected to reach the mid 60s to near 70 by Saturday which is about 15 degrees above the seasonal normal for early April. Get ready to enjoy some real nice spring weather later this week.
