Community awards given

Tahoe City, CA – Numerous North Lake Tahoe individuals and businesses were recognized at the 47th Annual Community Awards Dinner. At the event, which took place Feb. 8, more than 150 people gathered in the Frank Sinatra Showroom at the Cal-Neva Resort and Casino to celebrate the superlative efforts put forth over the past year by residents and businesses.

Produced by the North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, the ceremony provided more than 20 North Lake Tahoe residents and three businesses with plaques commemorating their contributions to the community.

Those honored included:

– Citizen of the Year: (co-winners) Sandra Carter Packard and Don Fulda

– Business of the Year: Pete N’ Peter’s

– Hospitality Award: Granlibakken Resort

– Positive Environmental Impact Award: Kings Beach Safeway

Along with the traditional awards, an award from the Placer County Film Commission was presented to Captain Kent Hawthorne of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office for their work with the crew of The Deep End, which filmed in the North Lake Tahoe area last year.
