TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — The Community Collaborative of Tahoe Truckee (CCTT) is pleased to honor Theresa May Duggan, Peter Mayfield, and Devin Bradley for their outstanding community service.

The CCTT Partner of the Year Award is given in recognition of regional collaboration and vision for the community. Nominated for his leadership and support of youth and families, the Partner of the Year Award was given to Peter Mayfield.

Partner of the Year

Peter has been a successful leader, pioneer and innovator in mountain sports programs for the last 27 years. He has started three innovative businesses: CityRock, Yosemite Guides, and the Gateway Mountain Center.

Gateway Mountain Center has provided wellness and adventure programing for students at Sierra Continuation High School and the Truckee Community School for the past six years. Over the past two years Gateway has developed an innovative program called Whole Hearts, Minds, and Bodies, which provides nature-based therapeutic mentoring for youth who are in treatment for mental health, behavior, and substance abuse issues. Local client families have found this to be a very effective adjunct to existing treatment modalities for their children.

Peter and his staff have worked tirelessly to respond to community need and establish an alternative mental health system of support for youth. His vision and cooperative spirit have been an inspiration to those whose lives he’s touched.

Chris Ballin Award

The Chris Ballin Award is given in recognition of those persons who advocate for cultural competency, equality and social justice. Chris Ballin is remembered as the founding and longtime director of La Comunidad Unida (The United Community) formed in response to growing racial tension on the North Shore. Ballin was an enthusiastic collaborator who had creative ideas, experience, and knowledge for working with communities and those in need.

Nominated for her vision, dedication, and community building ability, the 2013 Chris Ballin Award was given to Theresa May Duggan.

Arriving in Tahoe in 1977, Tee May has been a longtime advocate for the people of the North shore, particularly those with the fewest resources. She has improved the lives of residents through her key roles in the Domus housing project, the Core Improvement Project, and most recently, Community House. Tee May is deeply committed to social justice and lives out those values in her work, volunteer time and personal giving.

Public Service Award of Excellence

The CCTT Public Service Award of Excellence is intended to recognize one stand-out worker who rises to the daily challenges of CCTT’s organizations, works one-on-one with clients and who goes above and beyond to serve the community. Nominated for his collaborative work with multiple community partners in both Truckee and North Lake Tahoe, the 2013 CCTT Public Service Award of Excellence was given to Devin Bradley.

In addition to Devin’s work as a Nevada County health specialist, he has spent many extra volunteer hours supporting youth at events like Friday Night Live trainings, Safe and Sober Recreational Activities, Friday Night Life Mentoring, Tobacco Merchant Education, Suicide Prevention Meetings, Wellness Center, Nutrition, Teen Pregnancy Prevention, and the Teen Clinic.

He has taken the initiative to nominate teens for community awards and scholarship opportunities to help them succeed beyond high school. Devin has been a positive and insightful participant at many tables, consistently looking for ways different groups can work together for the common goal of supporting youth and well-being.

The Community Collaborative of Tahoe Truckee is comprised of 45 health, education and social service agencies who work together to address the fundamental needs of families in the North Lake Tahoe/Truckee region.
