Controlled burns on tap, weather permitting, for Lake Tahoe Basin

KINGS BEACH, Calif. and#8212; The U.S. Forest Service could start controlled burns as soon as Feb. 2 on the north and east shores of Lake Tahoe.

According to a press release from the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit in South Lake Tahoe, burns located in the Roundhill Pines Resort and Kings Beach could start as early as Tuesday, conditions and staffing permitting.

Residents and visitors can expect to see smoke in the areas of the burns, according to the release.
