Cooler days and colder nights ahead

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” A cool and dry air mass will settle over the Tahoe Basin this week in the wake of Mondays cold front. Brisk northeast winds of 10 to 15 mph will keep temperatures in the mid 40s this afternoon despite sunny skies.

Overnight low temperatures are forecast to drop into the lower teens around the lake with clear skies and low humidities. These temperatures are actually close to the seasonal normal for late November but about 12 to 15 degrees cooler than observed over the past few days.

Computer forecast models are showing several weak upper level disturbances dropping south from western Canada which will reinforce the cold northerly flow into the Great Basin later this week.

We should see some increase in clouds later in the week with even a chance of a few snow showers by Friday.

Stay tuned to see if these snow showers will amount to anything or affect the weekend travel.
