Correction: Woman, 19, killed in Easter Sunday collision near Alpine Meadows

ALPINE MEADOWS, Calif. and#8212;Law enforcement is investigating the cause of a car accident on Easter Sunday that killed a 19-year-old woman.

According to a California Highway Patrol press release, officers and the North Tahoe Fire Protection District responded to a two-vehicle collision at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday on Highway 89 south of Alpine Meadows Road that killed Wenjie Li, 19, of St. Louis.

Li was the passenger in 2002 Acura driven by Shang Gao, 20, of Reno. The Acura was traveling southbound and lost control for unknown reasons, colliding with a 2004 Volvo, driven by Kimberly Squire, 45, of Redwood City, according to the report. Li was transported to Tahoe Forest Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The drivers of both vehicles reportedly suffered minor injuries. The collision is still under investigation and#8212; the report described conditions as cold and snowing.
