Country music diva Wynonna fills final Lake Tahoe Music Festival slot

TRUCKEE/TAHOE, Calif. and#8212; The Lake Tahoe Music Festival has gone country.

Wynonna has filled the final date, July 31 at Northstar-at-Tahoe, marking the first time in the festivaland#8217;s 28 years of a a country artist.

and#8220;Adding a country star to our concert series is a first for us but we wanted to do it right and Wynonna fits the bill perfectly,and#8221; Lisa Krueger, chief executive officer of the Lake Tahoe Music Festival, said. and#8220;In the past five years weand#8217;ve booked our concert lineup based on feedback from attendees and in our last annual survey a majority of respondents asked for country music and we listened. Wynonnaand#8217;s a talented and industry-recognized sensation who goes beyond country, offering a diverse musical range that weand#8217;re certain our attendees will embrace.and#8221;



The three-week concert series around the North Shore and Truckee is July 22-Aug. 7 and includes concerts by Natalie Cole, Michael McDonald and America.

Wynonna Judd began her career performing with her mother Naomi in the duo, the Judds. When she went solo in 1991, so did her name.



Ever since her record-breaking, quintuple platinum debut solo CD, 1992and#8217;s and#8220;Wynonna,and#8221; which reached No. 1 on the country chart and loomed in the top five of Billboardand#8217;s and#8220;Top Albumsand#8221; chart, the singer has remained a recognizable, yet unpredictable icon, according to a festival press release. Wynonnaand#8217;s latest album, and#8220;Sing: Chapter 1and#8221; pays homage to country, rock, blues and soul-baring standards originated by legendary artists that have formed the unique soundtrack to her own life.

Tickets for Wynonna are $42 for general admission and $54 preferred and are on sale online or by phone at 877-77-CLICK (25425). Purchase tickets in person at the at the Music Festival office located at 10775 Pioneer Trail, Suite 210, Truckee, Calif., Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or at the Tahoe City Visitors Center at 380 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City, Calif. daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m
