TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; The Truckee Fire Protection District board moved Bob Bena from Acting to Interim Fire Chief at its meeting Tuesday.

The move was part of closed session discussions on matters related to the board’s decision a month ago to not renew Chief Bryce Keller’s contract, and to put him on administrative leave. The board did not report any further action on Keller’s contract, nor on a process to pick a permanent fire chief, but vowed to make that decision a public process.

On the topic of public openness, the district also recently began posting agendas and attachments for board meetings on its website, http://www.truckeefire.org.

Members of the audience thanked the board for this move, and Pat Davison, executive director of the Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe, said it signified the first steps in a “paradigm shift” for the district.
