Credit card fraud arrest at Squaw

Sun News Service

OLYMPIC VALLEY – A Squaw Valley USA employee was arrested March 1 for making fraudulent charges on customers’ credit cards.

According to Detective Sgt. Jeff Granum, of the Placer County Sheriff’s Department, two ticket sellers for the ski resort “misappropriated credit cards and numbers to obtain cash.”

Marianne Figuereido, a 19-year-old Brazilian national and Kings Beach resident, was arrested after a supervisor alerted the sheriff’s department to the activity. Jose Neves, 20, another Brazilian national, is also suspected; the man returned to Rio de Janeiro before deputies could contact him.

According to the sheriff’s report, the pair apparently stole $11,098 from Feb. 3 to March 1.

Figuereido denied her involvement in the crimes. According to Granum, the investigation is ongoing.
