Lake Tahoe man found bound, gagged for 20 hours, possibly stabbed
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Police are searching for a missing vehicle after finding a South Lake Tahoe man bound and gagged in his apartment Wednesday evening.
Officers responded to a report of a man tied up and possibly stabbed inside his apartment in the 3600 block of Spruce Avenue around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to a press release from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.
The 43-year-old man was discovered by a co-worker who came to check on the victim after he failed to show up for work and return phone calls.
The man was found bound and gagged inside his apartment, where police also found “a significant amount blood.” Sgt. Shannon Laney said the victim had injuries, which he was treated for at Barton Memorial Hospital, but he could not specify if the man had been stabbed or the extent of his injuries.
Investigators determined the man had been tied up for at least 20 hours, according to the press release. He is in stable condition.
The victim’s car is missing, presumably stolen, and police currently have all resources deployed to find the vehicle, Laney told the Tribune. Due to the nature of the case and investigation, law enforcement is withholding specific details about the incident.
Laney said he suspects many outstanding questions will be answered once law enforcement locates the vehicle, which is described as a blue and grey 2000 Subaru Legacy Outback station wagon with a California License plate 7WFM387.
There is no evidence that there is any threat to the residents of South Lake Tahoe and investigators believe the victim knows the perpetrator, according to the press release.
However, anyone who locates the vehicle is instructed to avoid the occupants and call local law enforcement. Anyone with information related to this case is requested to contact the South Lake Tahoe Police Department detective division at 530-542-6100.
