TRUCKEE, Calif. — Authorities arrested a 38-year-old man Tuesday morning on Interstate 80 on a fugitive warrant out of Idaho, officials said.

The Truckee branch of the California Highway Patrol was notified at about 12:30 p.m. Monday that Christopher Lee Woods, of Twin Falls, Idaho, was believed to be en route to Stockton, Calif., according to a CHP news release.

Woods had an outstanding warrant out of Idaho and was believed to be armed and dangerous, according to CHP, and was traveling with a woman and their infant baby.

CHP and Truckee Police Department officials located Woods’ vehicle at about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday traveling westbound on I-80, east of Donner Pass Road.

Authorities eventually pulled Woods’ vehicle over and arrested him on suspicion of the $50,000 warrant for possession of controlled substance, according to CHP.

“After coordination with investigators in Idaho, the child was allowed to be released into the care of the mother and grandparents,” according to CHP. “The mother and infant child were unharmed and were released without further incident.”

Woods was booked at about 9 a.m. Tuesday in Nevada County Jail. His bail was not immediately known.
