No one hurt in boat, motor home fire at Tahoe City campground
TAHOE CITY, Calif. — No one was hurt in a Wednesday afternoon fire that broke out in a Tahoe City campground and was quickly extinguished.
The North Tahoe Fire Protection District was dispatched at about 5 p.m. to the Lake Forest Campground off Highway 28 on Lake Forest Road, said spokesman Dave Zaski.
When crews arrived, a parked boat was on fire, he said, with flames ultimately spreading to a nearby stationed motor home and vegetation on the same campsite.
No one was in the boat or motor home at the time of the incident. Other people where camping in the area, but no injuries were reported.
Crews had the fire extinguished within five minutes, Zaski said, with the boat sustaining major damage and the motor home’s exterior scorched.
“It had the potential to take off and go into other campsites,” he said, given the day’s windy conditions.
No other damage was reported, Zaski said, citing quick containment.
Crews from the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District and Calfire responded to the incident.
The fire is under investigation, with the Placer County Sheriff’s Office taking the lead.
