North Tahoe crime log: Elusive robbery suspect apprehended in Arizona
TAHOE CITY, Calif. — Below is a selection of incidents from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office press log for Aug. 1-15, as provided to the Sierra Sun by PCSO officials.
A driver was cited around 9 a.m. for having an allegedly suspended license and being in possession of heroin, following what deputies called a “consensual contact” on the 8300 block of North Lake Boulevard.
A female was arrested at 9 p.m. at the intersection of Fox Street and Dolly Varden Avenue on suspicions of driving under the influence, according to a deputy report. According to deputies, the woman was turned over to the California Highway Patrol.
A man suspected of domestic violence and attempted arson was arrested around 1:45 a.m. on the 8500 block of North Lake Blvd., according to deputies.
Following a month-long search for a man who had repeatedly eluded deputies, the suspect was located and arrested on a Placer County warrant in Arizona, deputies report. The man had originally been pulled over for allegedly speeding along Old County Road when he abruptly stopped, got out of the car he was driving and fled on foot. Deputies report finding drugs, paraphernalia and stolen credit cards at the scene of that crime, but no sign of the suspect. The suspect was later seen that day in Kings Beach, but was able to flee again, according to deputies, leading to the arrest warrant for his capture.
Deputies report discovering a man unconscious along the 1900 block of Squaw Valley Road in Olympic Valley around 3:15 a.m. According to deputies, the man was passed out in his vehicle in a parking lot and was later determined to be in possession of cocaine. Deputies report the man was arrested on possession charges.
Around 10 p.m. near Bear St. and Speckled Ave. a man was arrested on suspicions of driving under the influence, according to deputies.
Deputies report arresting two men along the 8500 block of North Lake Blvd. around 10:30 p.m. on suspicions of selling a controlled substance.
After allegedly receiving a number of citizen reports, deputies responded to the report of an erratic driver near the 6600 block of North Lake Blvd. in Tahoe Vista around 8:15 p.m. According to deputies, the male suspect was located and turned over to CHP on suspicions of DUI.
After pulling over a male suspect driving along the 8500 block of Trout Ave., deputies report discovering the man was allegedly driving under the influence. According to deputies, the man was turned over to CHP around 11 p.m. for booking.
Around 11 a.m. deputies received a report of a man who had allegedly stolen the victim’s cell phone along the 8400 block of North Lake Blvd. in Kings Beach, went to Incline Village and stole a vehicle and then drove to Reno, according to deputies. While in Reno, deputies report the suspect was witnessed spray painting the stolen vehicle, where he was discovered by law enforcement agents and subsequently arrested for several charges.
