Truckee Police add new anonymous tip feature

TRUCKEE, Calif. — The Truckee Police Department has a new feature in its Nixle public alerting system allowing residents to anonymously report crimes or incidents.

The public can text to 888777 with the keyword TPDNIXLE, go to the TPD website and click on the Nixle link, or call 855-TIPS-247 (855-847-7247). Provide as much information as you can.

“The tip line is a great resource for ongoing issues like drug use or when someone wants to remain anonymous and has information on a past crime,” officials said in a news release. “We take all crimes serious, and the tip line gives us another method to connect with the public.

The tip line should not replace 911 for in-progress emergencies or requests for law enforcement response, according to TPD, as these types of incidents need to be handled immediately and there could be a delay with the tip line.
