Truckee police logs: Box cutter-wielding man arrested for assault

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Below are select incidents from the Truckee Police Department’s press log for April 21 to May 9, along with previously unreported incidents.

April 21

An individual was referred to the district attorney after being founding violation of probation terms that he not enter an alcohol establishment or consume alcohol.



April 22

A subject was stopped for a vehicle code violation and was cited for having open alcohol containers and marijuana in the vehicle.



Reporting party on Jacobs Court contacted authorities that he was suspicious of an online purchaser of his stand-up paddleboard. The man has funds on hold until bank notifies him otherwise.

An unknown suspect broke into a recycle container Donner Pass Road and stole aluminum cans. Report taken.

April 23

Two adult males were involved in a physical altercation on Estates Drive. One of the males had a box cutter, and one of the males suffered injuries conducive with cuts from the box cutter. Man with box cutter arrested and booked on assault charges in Nevada County Jail.

April 24

A driver was pulled over on Highway 89 south for vehicle code infractions and was arrested for DUI.

April 26

Some lumber was stoned from a construction site on Northwoods Boulevard by unknown suspects.

April 27

A resident turned in a bike that was found for safekeeping.

April 28

A driver was pulled over in town for vehicle code infractions and was arrested for DUI.

A victim suspects her tax preparer kept a portion of her tax return, and she has not been able to get ahold of the tax preparer. Report taken.

April 29

A vehicle was stopped on Interstate 80 for several traffic violations, and the river was found unfit to drive. Driver was given a ride off the freeway.

A victim reported theft of cash from an unlocked vehicle in a public parking lot. Report taken.

A resident found a smartphone on the Truckee Legacy Trail and turned it in; it was booked into property/evidence.

A driver was pulled over in town for vehicle code infractions and was arrested for DUI.

April 30

A subject fell from a second-story deck. Report filed.

Officers responded to a 911 call at a residence. There, two siblings were involved in a physical fight. One suspect was arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession.

May 1

A subject was contacted at a hotel regarding not paying for a rented room. The subject was found to have two misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. He was cited and released.

A Reno woman called that her boyfriend was missing. Her man was found shortly after a report was taken.

May 2

An unknown person used a counterfeit bill to pay for goods. Report taken.

May 3

Officers responded to a report of a drunk subject; suspect was arrested for drunk in public.

May 4

Person reported a 12-year-old male hitchhiking on a town roadway. Person made contact with the juvenile, who said he was afraid to go home to his mother. An officer picked up the boy and took him home. Report taken.

May 5

A juvenile found a wallet on Donner Pass Road; owner located, and wallet was returned.

A person who lives on Canterbury Lane reported someone had opened lines of credit without authorization. Report requested.

May 6

A victim reported the theft of a vintage revolver from a home safe on Muhlebach Way. Report taken.

Owner of a vehicle reported someone had cut his tire with a sharp object on Donner Pass Road. Report taken.

Two victims reported various electronics were stolen from their bag while hiking.

A driver was pulled over on Rhineland Avenue for vehicle code infractions and suspicion the driver was in a domestic dispute. Driver was arrested for DUI.

May 7

Unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain access to a closed business on Donner Pass Road and caused damage. Report taken.

May 8

An in-progress theft from a vehicle on Johnson Lane was reported. Offers were able to identify a suspect after arriving; victim positively ID’d the suspect, but chose not to press charges.

After a physical fight between friends on Estates Drive, one suspect was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Report taken.

May 9

An employee at a business on Donner Pass Road said his boss physically assaulted him. Boss said otherwise; report taken, and no prosecution desired.
