Truckee police logs: Squabble over cotton candy leads to assault arrest
TRUCKEE, Calif. — Below are select incidents from the Truckee Police Department’s online press log for Sept. 13-19.
At 9 a.m. on Donner Pass Road, a student reported a theft of a school-issued laptop computer.
At 9:45 a.m., a victim reported he had made several wire transfers to an address in India before realizing he was involved in an Internet scam. Information report taken.
At 1:37 p.m., a victim wanted a report taken after being the victim of identity fraud after receiving a demand letter reportedly from a collections agency.
At 8:31 p.m. on Deerfield Drive, a male subject reported to be extremely intoxicated was found and arrested for drunk in public.
At 9:37 p.m. on White Fir Trail, after an investigation of a report of a vehicle in a ditch revealed an intoxicated driver, the driver was arrested for DUI.
At 12:13 a.m. on Donner Pass Road, officers responded to a local establishment where an intoxicated man punched a jukebox while being told to leave. Some damage was reported to the jukebox.
At 8:17 a.m. on Donner Pass Road, an arrest was made after officers responded to a theft at a local merchant.
At 10:30 a.m., officers responded a Martis Valley Road home where a juvenile was repeatedly causing problems and refusing to go to school.
At 11:40 a.m. on Donner Pass Road, officers investigated an incident involving two bikes stolen from a parking area overnight.
At 10:42 p.m. at an undisclosed location, officers arrested a driver for DUI.
At 10:55 p.m. at an undisclosed location, officers arrested a driver for DUI.
At 2:06 p.m. on Donner Pass Road, an unknown suspect broke a bathroom window with a rock.
At 3:31 a.m. at an undisclosed location, officers arrested a driver for DUI after a single-vehicle crash.
At 11:57 a.m. on Sierra Drive, officers investigated an incident involving a boyfriend and girlfriend arguing over a cotton candy machine. The fought over the machine, and the female was knocked down and injured. Male party arrested for assault.
At 1:14 p.m. on Donner Pass Road, a male subject stole merchandise from a business. When the suspect was confronted, he sprayed one of them with pepper spray. The suspect was located and arrested for robbery and felony assault.
At 4:01 p.m. on Waters Way, officers investigated a report of a vehicle that was keyed overnight.
At 2:31 p.m. on Brockway Road, after a report of suspected drug activity, a vehicle stop resulted in an minor in possession charge of marijuana and alcohol.
