Truckee Police probing recent rash of vehicle, other thefts

TRUCKEE, Calif. — The Truckee Police Department is investigating a series of thefts in the Truckee area over the past few weeks, officials said.

“Several unlocked commercial vehicles have been stolen from behind secured fences on private property and subsequently used in the commission of numerous thefts,” according to a statement last week from the TPD.

The suspects are described as two white adult males; no further information was provided.

“TPD urges business owners to be vigilant in locking up their vehicles and properties,” according to police. “If you have an alarm at your business, don’t forget to arm it before you leave. We are fortunate to have a small enough community that we usually notice when someone or something appears as if they do not belong.

“The details and information provided to us by our community can be pivotal in solving these types of crimes.”

Residents or business owners who may have information, or who see suspicious activity, are asked to call the department at 530-550-2320.
