Crisis Intervention Training session begins next month

Staff report

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Tahoe SAFE Alliance will host an eight-week fall Crisis Intervention Training session that begins on Sept. 9.

The organization is recruiting men and women to volunteer and help the agency in its mission to end the incidents and trauma of intimate partner/domestic violence, sexual violence, and child abuse in North Lake Tahoe and Truckee.

All volunteers at Tahoe SAFE Alliance who work with participants in the nonprofit’s programs must successfully complete the training, which is offered twice annually.

Interested parties can send an email to jessica@tahoesafealliance.org. Please apply by Aug. 28.

The intensive 69-hour course will be held on a combination of Monday and Wednesday mornings and three Saturdays over the eight-week period, all at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center in Incline Village.

Topics to be covered during training include: the basics of domestic violence and sexual assault, human trafficking, cultural diversity, mental health, child abuse, suicide, and crisis intervention techniques.

Successful completion of the course will allow volunteers to contribute in any of the Tahoe SAFE Alliance client-based programs such as the 24-Hour Community Help Line, the Children’s Program, the Violence Prevention Program, and the Safe House Program.
