Detectives searching for person suspected of stealing $20,000 in jewelry from Tahoe novelty store

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. and#8212; The individual responsible for stealing about $20,000 worth of jewelry from the Potlatch retail store in the Rally’s Shopping Center remains at large, and detectives are looking for tips as to the subject’s whereabouts.

The and#8220;person of interestand#8221; originally entered the store during business hours on Thursday, Sept. 23, on a scouting mission, said Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Don Day, before entering again at about 4 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, and defeated the lock, gaining entry and removing jewelry from the cases

and#8220;He cased the place the day before,and#8221; Day said. and#8220;This could be the work of a pro.and#8221;

An earlier North Lake Tahoe Bonanza story reported the stolen jewelry was worth about $1,700; however, follow-up interviews with WCSO revealed the jewelry’s worth to be at least $20,000.
