Did you know… The Tour de Nez is coming to town next week?

Ryan Salm/Sierra SunRiders make their way around a difficult turn during the Truckee Criterium Race at last year's Tour de Nez.

This year’s Tour de Nez bicycle race, which began in Reno 16 years ago, will be starting Wednesday, June 18 with more events and a greater focus on the Truckee-Tahoe area.

After scaling back last year to two days, one in Reno and one in Truckee, a new partnership with Northstar-at-Tahoe expanded the race to a six-day event, ending on June 21.

Some spectator-friendly races will include a criteriums and circuit races in Reno, Truckee and Northstar, which involve multiple laps around a short course.

A time trial will pit individual racers against the clock and give fans a chance to watch each racer go by one at a time.

A longer road race at Northstar will force racers to climb bigger hills and descend steeper slopes.

And along with all the racing there will be an expo and festival for onlookers.
