Donner Trail without power, closed again

Staff reportsDonner Trail School was closed for the second day in a row on Thursday due to an ongoing power outage on Donner Summit. All other schools in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District opened as usual Thursday.During the winter season school closure information on snowy days can be accessed at various locations online, on the radio and on television.The school district maintains two hotlines for snow day information. The primary number in Truckee is 582-2510. The alternative number located in Tahoe City is 581-7020. The messages are updated by 5 a.m. on snowy days.The school district also maintains a Web site which is also updated by 5 a.m. Snow day information can be accessed at http://www.ttusd.org/snow.htm.The following radio and TV stations are notified only if school is closed. However, the district cannot guarantee when, or if, the stations will broadcast the information. The school district notifies the following radio stations in Reno: KRLT, KOWL, KWNZ, KODS, KLCA, KRNO, KPLY, KBBA, KZTQ, KBUL, KNEV, KOH, KWYL, KOZZ, KDOT, KUUB and KHIT.The district also notifies the following television stations: KOLO ABC channel 8 in Reno, KRNV NBC channel 4 in Reno, KTVN CBS channel 2 in Reno and KCRA NBC channel 3 in Sacramento. The actual channel number might be different on individual stations.
