Don’t forget: Public hearings on TRPA Regional Plan Update this week

Staff report

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency released final documents for the Regional Plan Update in late October. The Update includes incentives to move development from sensitive land to already developed areas as a way of stemming Lake Tahoe’s historic clarity loss. The plan has been met by heavy opposition from the region’s conservation groups who fear it will set a precedent for over-development.

The agency’s November meeting will focus on taking public comment on the documents, according to TRPA. The two-day schedule is as follows: starting at 9:30 a.m. and going all day on Wednesday at The Chateau in Incline Village and again starting at 9:30 a.m. and going all day Thursday at Harveys Lake Tahoe.

The Governing Board is scheduled to take action on the Regional Plan Update at its Dec. 12 meeting. The thousands of pages of Regional Plan Update final documents are available on the TRPA website at http://www.trpa.org.
