Doolittle has large fundraising lead

Rep. John Doolittle, R-Roseville, continues to far outpace his challengers in the race to represent California’s 4th Congressional District.

Doolittle has raised $794,416 as of March 31, according to the Federal Elections Commission. His challenger in the June 6 primary, Mike Holmes of Auburn, has raised $70,810.

In the Democratic race, Charles Brown of Roseville has raised $97,357 in his bid to unseat the eight-term incumbent. Lisa Rea of Lincoln reports a total of $20,318 in her campaign fund. William Warner Kirby has no reported campaign contributions.

The largest portion of Doolittle’s contributions has come from Political Action Committees, which have donated $299,324 to his campaign. The only other candidate to report a contribution from a PAC was Rea, who received $4, according to the report.

The updated campaign contribution reports were released last weekend.
