Downtown businesses shift spots

Joe Coffee packed up its beans and closed the doors to its downtown Truckee location on Sunday.

In the place of Joe Coffee and Thousand Mile Outdoor Wear, which closed earlier this year, customers will find an expanded High Camp Home store in the historical ice house building at 10191 Donner Pass Road.

High Camp Home owner Diana Vincent purchased the building for her interior and architectural design business, which is currently working out of the top floor of the same building and at a second location on Donner Pass Road and Northwoods Boulevard. Vincent will consolidate her business to the one central downtown location.

“It’s one-stop shopping (for your home),” Vincent said. “We’re trying to bring back a full (home) center to the region.”

The expanded High Camp Home will open for the Fourth of July weekend, she said.

Joe Coffee will be reinvented and unveiled in late summer at a new downtown location, which has not been announced because the lease isn’t finalized, said Cass Rodriguez, who co-owns the coffee shop with her husband, Gerry Rodriguez.

“It will be Joe Coffee plus more,” Cass Rodriguez said. “We’ve decided to pursue a bakery and cafe with a market.”
