Doris was born Aug. 8, 1908 to Frank and Letra Eagan in Watertown, New York. She attended high school and several years of college in upstate New York. She married Carlton Gibson Drake in Syracuse, N.Y. on June 30, 1929. They had two children and moved their young family to Hollywood, Calif. in 1945.

Doris loved writing poems and short stories, submitting her efforts for publication for over three decades. She wrote a column for a local paper in Hollywood for several years.

Doris became a real estate broker and had several offices throughout Southern California and later in Sacramento, Calif. She lived her final years in Truckee: nine years at the Senior Center and five at the Tahoe Forest Hospital Extended Care Center.

After a long and fulfilling life, Doris died on Sept. 20, 2007.

Her mother and father; her two sisters, Beatrice and Francis, and her youngest son, David preceded her in death.

Her son Robert, daughter-in-law Sharine, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren survive Doris.

Doris had, and maintained a wonderful sense of humor and provided an incalculable role model for her progeny. All who knew her will deeply miss her and recall her lessons and example of a gentle, forgiving and loving life.

No services are scheduled; with arrangements being made by Truckee Mortuary, Truckee, Calif.
