Driver arrested for allegedly swiping construction flagger

TRUCKEE and#8212; Police arrested a young man last Thursday after he allegedly swerved at a construction zone flagger on Donner Pass Road.

William J. Carter, 19, allegedly swerved dangerously close to an authorized traffic control person near the west end of Donner Lake around 10:30 a.m. June 18, according to witnesses that called 911 to report the incident. He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

Police began checking the Donner Lake area and located the vehicle by description and a partial license plate given by the 911 caller, according to a press release, and damage on the vehicle was consistent with reports the vehicle struck the flaggerand#8217;s stop sign.



Carter allegedly admitted to recently driving and being involved in an altercation with construction crews, according to the release.

Police stressed that all motorists a required by law to obey traffic control personnel.
