Dry and mild through Friday, cooler and windy with chance of showers Saturday

A weak upper level disturbance passing across central California will bring partly cloudy skies to the Tahoe area through tonight.

Highs today are expected to reach the lower 50s around the lake which is 5 to 8 degrees above the seasonal normal for this date.

Lows tonight are forecast to dip into the teens with local areas of fog developing especially in the Truckee area.

Sunny skies will return on Thursday along with northeast winds to 15 mph at lake level and gusts to 30 mph along the Sierra crest.

Highs on Thursday are expected to reach near 50 degrees around the lake and the mid 40s at the 8,000 foot resort level.

Computer forecast models are still showing a low pressure trough brushing across the northern Sierra on Saturday for cooler and windy conditions along with a chance of showers by afternoon.

Stay tuned to see if this system will add anything to our above average snow pack standing at 120 percent of normal.
