Dry and mild weather on the way this week

Dan Thrift/Sun News ServiceHorses frolic in Boren Meadow on Sunday.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” After a few showers and thunderstorms managed to develop over the weekend, the start of the work week should feature a return to dry and mild weather.

Mostly sunny although hazy skies with some afternoon cloudiness will return today with slightly lower temperatures. There is the remotest possibility of a stray late day shower or thunderstorm, mainly south of Tahoe, but the possibility is rather remote.

Highs today will warm into the lower to mid 70s, with northeast winds in the 5 to 15 mph range. For tonight, a chilly night is in store with clear skies and light winds, which will allow temperatures to tumble again to near freezing in some areas.

Lows will range from near 30 around Truckee, lower 30s around Meyers and the airport and mid 30s to mid 40s elsewhere, with the warmest temperatures found in the typically warmer locations on the east and north shores of Tahoe.
