Dry weather pattern this week under prevailing high pressure

Tom Cylke
Sun news service

A persistent ridge of high pressure aloft along the West Coast and a surface high over the Great Basin will keep the area under a dry northerly flow pattern most of this week.

Highs today are expected to warm up to near 50 degrees around the lake and close to 40 at the 8,000 foot resort level.

Today should be a nice day for skiing and other outdoor activities under mostly sunny skies and light winds. Lows tonight are forecast to dip into the teens around the lake with local areas of fog developing in the Truckee area overnight.

Except for some high clouds Tuesday we will see a little warmer temperatures with highs in the lower 50s during the day and lows in the upper teens.

These temperatures are around 5 to 8 degrees above normal on the highs and near normal for the lows as climate records indicate in early March.
