LAKE TAHOE ” A high pressure ridge will dominate the weather pattern today and Tuesday resulting in sunny mild days and clear cold nights.
After a chilly start this morning, high temperatures are forecast to climb into the upper 30s around the lake with northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Lows tonight are expected to drop into the single digits under clear skies and light winds.
Warmer temperatures are forecast for New Years day with high temperatures topping out in the lower to mid 40s.
Enjoy the next few days as a series of three wet winter storms are projected to bring over 5 feet of new snow to the higher elevations and over 2 feet at lake level beginning on Thursday and continuing into Sunday night.
These storms will be accompanied by very strong winds over 100 mph along the Sierra crest which will create blizzard conditions over the passes and other exposed areas.
