DUI checkpoint in Truckee Saturday

" Sun staff reports

The California Highway Patrol and Truckee Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday in Truckee.

CHP drug recognition experts will provide on site assessments of drivers suspected of drug use. Officers will also be equipped with hand-held breath testing devices to measure the blood alcohol content of suspected drunk drivers.

“All vehicles will be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs can expect to be arrested,” said Capt. Gary Ross in a news release. “Our objective is to send a clear message to those considering mixing alcohol or drugs with driving.”

The checkpoint will be operated from 8 p.m. to midnight on Aug. 12.
