DUI checkpoint planned for Friday somewhere in Truckee

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; The California Highway Patrol is planning a sobriety/driver license checkpoint in Truckee on Friday.

The checkpoint will be somewhere in Truckee, from 7 p.m. until midnight. Truckee Police officers will also be at the checkpoint with highway patrol.

and#8220;A sobriety checkpoint is a proven effective tool for achieving this goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operations,and#8221; the highway patrol wrote in a press release. and#8220;By publicizing our efforts we believe that we can deter motorists from drinking and driving.and#8221;

Depending on traffic volume, all vehicles will be checked for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Funding comes from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
