Economic strategy meeting Tuesday

Some of the most important issues to members of Town Council will be discussed in a series of meetings that will take place the second Tuesday of each month in the new Town Hall.

The economic strategy report will be the focus of the first meeting which is scheduled for Tuesday, May 8, from 6 to 8 p.m..

The report, funded by a Community Development Block Grant, focuses on economic opportunities in the retail, home business, service and industrial sectors of our economy. The report will provide valuable information related to the need for additional retail, service and industrial space based on market conditions and the needs of Truckee businesses.

The report was developed by Applied Development Economics with assistance of the Economic Strategy Ad Hoc Committee.

Steve Wahlstrom, from Applied Development Economics, will be presenting the preliminary finding of the report at the workshop. Comments from the group will be utilized in finalizing the report.

Once completed the report will be used by the town to consider developing a formal economic strategy.

Next month Town Council will address the historic inventory report, and potential Town Hall sites the following month.
