Back to School: Measures E and U — your bond dollars at work
Thanks to the community’s support of Measure E and Measure U, a great deal of work has been underway on facility upgrades at the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District.
This summer, a handful of projects were completed before the start of school.
The new synthetic track for Truckee High School and new restroom building adjacent to the athletic fields are complete and open.
The second phase of the Glenshire Elementary School project was completed, which included interior renovation of the existing campus, security upgrades to the administration area, HVAC upgrades, technology infrastructure, and furniture upgrades.
The parking lot at Sierra Expeditionary Learning School was reconfigured to enhance student safety. The project also included installing air conditioning, technology infrastructure, and furniture upgrades.

There is a new bus drop-off area as well as a new, separated parent drop-off area with an improved path of travel for pedestrians.
Other projects underway:
The East West Field project is currently underway, addressing the existing uneven and rutted field surface on the field to improve the safety and enjoyment of the field. The East West Field will re-open in the fall of 2017; however, sod will be placed on the softball section of the field next spring to allow for play in that section.
Construction of a new district warehouse and maintenance facility at the district office has begun with an anticipated completion date of January 2017. A demolition of the old facility at Northwoods Blvd. and Donner Pass Road will follow and the area will be used for Truckee High and Truckee Elementary upgrades.
Construction for the Tahoe Lake Elementary modernization and upgrade project (Phase 2) will begin in the spring 2017.
Construction for the Truckee High School modernization and upgrade project (Phase 2) will begin in the spring 2017.
Construction for the Donner Trail Elementary modernization and upgrade project (Phase 2) will begin in the spring 2017.
Community workshops will be scheduled throughout the planning and construction phases of the larger projects to keep the public informed and up-to-date on the projects and solicit input.
