Classes — free and paid — set for fall for infants, toddlers in Truckee

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Once again, the Family Resource Center of Truckee is offering a bevy of classes and activities for families with newborns, infants and young children this fall.
Below is a list of activities for children from birth to 5 years. New this year will be a Saturday “Musikgarten for Toddlers” class, as well as a parent education class on child behavior and social emotional development.
Also this year, Toddler Gymtime returns. Check out complete listing below:
CLASSES FOR INFANTS AND PARENTS
Sept. 30: Baby Massage Series with Linda Mackenzie-Parks, RN, BCI, CIMI. For parents with infants, newborn to crawling. Promotes health, bonding and attachment. Reduces fussiness and promotes relaxation for parent and infant. Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., $48 for four classes. Sholarships available.
Oct. 23: Baby and Me with Cindy Bansen, R.N., IBCLC. For parents and infants 3 months to crawling. Fun and educational classes with special topics, speakers, organized activities, music and informal discussions. Fridays, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. $60 for five classes. Scholarships available.
CLASSES FOR TODDLERS AND PARENTS
Oct. 5: In the Family Room at Truckee Elementary, join Montessori Teacher, Mia and Friends for free, bilingual, activitie,s including art, music, stories, and play. Drop in M, T, W, and Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon. Follows TTUSD School Schedule.
Oct. 10: SPECIAL SATURDAY CLASS! — Musikgarten with Rita Whitaker Haun, Children’s Music Teacher and Reno Philharmonic Cellist. Research-based curriculum promotes brain development. For parents and children 15 months to 3 years. Enjoy singing, listening, playing simple instruments and movement with your child. $72 for six classes, plus materials fee of $32 for instrument set, parent booklet and CD. Scholarships available.
Oct. 15: Toddler Gymtime, free drop in program at the TTUSD District Office big gym. For parents and children, walking to 3 years old. Enjoy big muscle activities and socialization, utilizing a wide array of developmental toys and equipment, including riding and pushing toys, balls and hoops, tumbling mats, tunnels and more. Thursdays from 9:30-11 a.m. Follows the TTUSD schedule.
Sept. 22: Co-sponsored with TTUSD, free Parenting Workshop with Aaron Stabel, BCBA — The Parent’s Role in the Social Emotional Development of Young Children. A foundation for success in school and beyond, for parents of children birth to 5 years. You will take away tips and tools to help your growing child with developmentally appropriate, positive, behavior and healthy social-emotional development. TTUSD District Office, 6-7:30 p.m. Light Dinner will be served. RSVP to reserve spot.
Sept. 25: Family Fun Night at Truckee Elementary. For families and children birth through elementary. Free dinner and fun activities for the whole family, at the Truckee Elementary cafeteria, from 5-7 p.m.
Nov 6: Annual Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration. Details to be announced.
Since its inception in 2001, the FRCoT has been a primary point-of-contact for families seeking to improve their lives. The mission of the agency is to promote social and economic success in our community by providing education, mobilizing resources and advocating for change.
The FRCoT strives to support and assist families and individuals to overcome various challenges. Programs help build on family strengths and assets and are delivered through strategies of prevention, education, support and networking in collaboration with community partners.
