Excellence in Education: Giving back to local youth for 30 years
Special to the Sun
With the season of thanks underway, and as we reflect on what’s most important, the Excellence in Education Foundation would like to thank the Tahoe Truckee community for its generous, ongoing support.
As a result of successful fundraising efforts like the annual Give Back Tahoe Giving Guide, the Foundation has been able to make a positive impact in our local schools.
The Giving Guide is a joint venture between the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation and the Sierra Sun that elevates the community’s philanthropic impact and creates an easy opportunity to support local nonprofit organizations like Excellence in Education that are working to make a difference in our community.
This year’s Give Back Tahoe Giving Guide celebrates the North Tahoe/Truckee community and all that makes it great — our residents, our workforce, our visitors. The Guide features the mission and end-of-year goals of over 60 local nonprofits, while also offering an easy, safe platform for charitable giving in support of these organizations through the end of the year.
The online Giving Guide goes live on “Giving Tuesday,” November 29 at 12:01 a.m., and is open through December 31, 2016.
In addition, there is a total of $45,000 in Challenge Grant prizes available for nonprofits who acquire the most individual contributions between November 29 and December 13. Residents, second homeowners and visitors are encouraged to participate in this collective giving opportunity to raise funds in support of these charitable local organizations.
Through our participation in the Giving Guide, funds raised in support of Excellence in Education will support programs that are specifically designed to promote student interest in learning, to give students hands-on learning experiences, and to encourage quality academic performance.
In celebration of Excellence in Education’s 30th anniversary and the giving season, please consider making a donation of $30.
Over the next few months, many will make end of year donations. In fact, studies show that as much as one third of all charitable giving occurs within the final three months of the year!
As giving plans are evaluated this holiday season, please visit the Give Back Tahoe Giving Guide at GiveBackTahoe.org and consider a gift to the Excellence in Education Foundation. With your help, we can do even more to support the students in our community.
The Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education Foundation is a nonprofit foundation that enhances public education and strengthens the student learning experience within the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District.
Each year, the Foundation partners with local businesses and the community to raise money and provide over $250,000 in classroom grants, resources, and partnerships to benefit students and teachers in a district that encompasses 12 schools in a geographic area of 720 square miles.
The 2016-17 school year marks the Foundation’s 30th year of supporting local educational efforts.
