Sponsored by the Nevada Arts Council, Get in the Act’s Science Theater Program used the imagination of the performing arts to enrich science learning for Incline Elementary School students during a February performance.

Because students dramatized science questions in memorable classroom scenes, they learned and retained the science content associated with these scenes.

Science Theater is led by Teaching Artist Diane Handzel, who has served North Tahoe students with in-school, after-school, and summer camp programming since 2001.

“I loved the kinesthetic aspect and involving all students in the workshop!” declared Ms. Unger, a kindergarten teacher at Incline Elementary. “Students were engaged and loved watching their peers connect to Next Generation Science Standards.”

Get in the Act thanks IES Principal Richard Mares, Science Coordinator Natalie Wierzbicki, and all the teachers and staff at Incline Elementary for helping Science Theater come alive!
