Tahoe-Truckee Lib Loop: High altitude living at the library
May 19, 2016
TAHOE-TRUCKEE, Calif. — We know the glories of living in the high country, and with the turn in the weather we're spending more time outside — and at your local library, you'll be pleased to know you can find new and informative ways to enjoy our elevated life.
The libraries have books in different formats, for all ages, on the various subjects. Find out about sports and training at higher elevations, alpinism and mountaineering, famous mountaineers, and riveting tales of disaster and success on the planet's highest peaks.
Sierra Nevada College's Prim Library has the book "Advanced Sports Nutrition" with high altitude information for athletes.
As an Enki e-book accessible through the Nevada County Library website for the Truckee Library, you'll find "The Altitude Experience: Successful Trekking and Climbing above 8000 Feet."
You'll find books on high altitude plants and gardening, such as "High Country Veggies" in the Washoe County Libraries, and plenty of other titles in the various libraries, for your outdoor work at home.
And perhaps most challenging after enjoying the outdoors are the many books on high altitude cooking and baking at all our libraries, for example "Pie in the Sky: Successful Baking at High Altitudes," at the Truckee Library, or "The New High Altitude Cookbook" at the Kings Beach Library.
