Tahoe-Truckee Lib Loop: New books and media at the Truckee Library

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Love the PCT? Ready for more epic trails? Check out the new “America’s Great Hiking Trails” by Karen Berger, available at the Truckee Library, to learn about the Pacific Crest Trail and ten other thru-hikes in the National Scenic Trails system.
New books are constantly arriving at the library, ready to borrow from a special New Books section.
Also, look online in the Nevada County Library website in the Library Catalog link: Click on the “Recently Added Items” tab and select your format.
You’ll have a selection of new DVDs, music CDs, audiobooks on CD, children’s and young adult books, and fiction, nonfiction and large print adult books.
A few of our new adult fiction book titles are: “French Concession: A Novel” by Xiao Bai; “The Heart Goes Last” by Margaret Atwood; “Trigger Warning” by Neil Gaiman; “The Chessmen” by Peter May; and “The Madagaskar Plan” by Guy Seville.
There also are many new adult non-fiction books. We’re also happy to help you with choosing new or not-new books and media — stop by and see the array of possibilities.
Incline Village Library:
Oct. 28, 4-4:45 p.m.: Family Story Time. Children of all ages are welcome at story time. Join us for stories, songs, games, and crafts!
Oct. 29, 11:15-11:45 a.m.: Toddler Time. Stories, puppets, music and movement for children 6 months to 3 years. Siblings welcome!
Oct. 30, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.: In observance of Nevada Day, Incline Village Library will be CLOSED.
Kings Beach Public Library:
Oct. 31: Pumpkin Palooza returns! Decorate an uncarved pumpkin in a literary theme, bring it to the library any time before Oct. 31, and perhaps you will win the Grand Prize! Stop by on Halloween for a ghoulish treat and vote for your favorite entry!
Tuesdays from 10:30-11 a.m.: Preschool Story time. Books, felt stories, nursery rhymes, and a craft.
Also: We have added many new “Tahoe” books to our collection. Come and check them out.
Oct. 31, 10:30-11 a.m.: Spanish Storytime, with bilingual stories, songs and rhymes, will celebrate Halloween. Story reader Reyna Sanchez-Lopez will present lively books and activities to introduce children to the wonders of reading and the treasure of books at the Library. Families and children of all ages are welcome.
Also: Through October, we are displaying the famous Tahoe-based Owen McKenna mystery thrillers by local author Todd Borg. Todd generously donated a set of all 13 of his books, including the newest, “Tahoe Blue Fire.” Come by to borrow any or all of them!
