Tahoe-Truckee Lib Loop: Plan your future at the library

Your local libraries provide special resources for job-hunting and career-planning, such as interview tips, résumé-building, basic computer skills tutorials, or choosing the most optimal career for you.

The Nevada County Library system is now offering a limited number of scholarships to the Career Online High School, allowing adult learners, ages 19 and over, to earn an accredited high school diploma as well as a career certificate in one of eight high-demand career fields.

The program may be accessed 24 hours per day via the internet, students are given up to 18 months to complete the program, and they are paired with an academic coach.

Scholarships are sponsored by the Friends of the Nevada County Libraries, the Friends of the Truckee Library and the California State Library.

Aug. 2, 6:30 p.m. Artist Conversation with Niko DeMaria. Niko DeMaria will be here to talk about his artwork and what inspires him to create his masterpieces.

Aug. 3, 3:30 p.m. Phenomenal Fitness Feats with Wild Things. Put your game face on while you get up close and personal with animals from around the world. Game with a Golden Eagle, bond with a Burmese Python and more!

Truckee Library

Win a Kindle Fire! Now through the end of July, when you come in for your first library card at the Truckee Library, you’ll enter a drawing for a free Kindle Fire. Thanks to the Friends of the Nevada County Libraries (West County) for providing the tablets.

Summer readers may still sign up at the Truckee Library for the Summer Reading Program. Come in for your Read for the Win Bingo card or Froggy Reading Game. For ages 3-12, pre-readers and independent readers.

Spanish Storytime is on summer break June through August. Please join us again for bilingual stories, songs and rhymes in September, last Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m.
