Tahoe-Truckee Lib Loop: Streaming movies from the Truckee Library

Ready to watch a streamed movie but don’t have a Netflix account? If you use the Truckee Library and have a Nevada County Library card, you don’t need to have any streaming video accounts or pay a cent to stream award-winning feature films, documentaries and shorts, with indieflix.

indieflix offers thousands of independently-produced films, from over 50 countries, with genres such as classics, comedy, arts, foreign, and many more. As you browse, you can select the duration, from shorts to full-length, and the audience, from family to adult.

Just go to the Nevada County Library website and follow the “eServices & Databases” link, to indieflix, and have your library card ready: The number on the back is your access to setting up your free account.

Thursday, Sept. 3, 11:15-11:45 a.m.: Toddler Time. Stories, puppets, music and movement for children 6 months to 3 years. Siblings welcome!

Friday, Sept. 4, 2-4 p.m.: Lifescapes. Writing program where Seniors are given an opportunity to write and share their memoirs.

Thursday, Sept. 10, 4-5 p.m.: Paws 2 Read. Reading program for children of all ages. Friendly dogs lend a loving, non-judgmental ear to beginning readers. Children receive a free book after reading to a gentle dog.

Kings Beach Public Library

Friday, Sept. 4, 6-7 p.m.: Free computer class. “Computer Basics in Spanish” (Clase de computación en español).

Also: September is “Sign-up for a Library Card” month. Sign up and you will be entered in a drawing to win books from our used book store!

Sierra Nevada College

Thursday, Sept. 10, 5-7 p.m.: Community Read – Danica Novgorodoff will be giving an art talk in the college’s Holman Arts and Media Center.

Friday, Sept. 11, 7 p.m.: Community Read Author/Writers in the Woods – Benjamin Percy in TCES 139-141.

Saturday, Sept. 19: Tahoe Forum. Guest Speaker—Isabel Allende. Free, but tickets needed, http://www.sierranevada.edu.

Truckee Library

The Truckee Library Storytimes will resume on September 1st, with a new schedule:

Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.: Toddler Time, for ages 18 months to 3 years.

Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.: Babes in Bookland, for ages 6 months to 2 years.

Thursdays at 11:15 a.m.: Preschool Stories, for ages 3 and up.
