Three finalists tabbed for Truckee High principal job

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Efforts to find a new Truckee High School principal for the 2013-14 school year are moving forward.

On Tuesday, five candidates were interviewed by two panels, with three being selected as finalists. Their names cannot be currently released, since reference checks are being done, said Rob Leri, superintendent of the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District.

The finalists will take part in a meet-and-greet from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Monday in the THS cafeteria. Residents, students, school staff and others are invited to attend.

“I will be observing each finalist to collect additional data to determine whether or not they are a fit for our school and community,” Leri said. “Additionally, I want to see how they interact socially, think on their feet, articulate responses to inquiries and so on. I welcome feedback and observations on each of the finalists.”

TTUSD administrators and Leri will conduct final interviews on Monday, prior to the meet and greet, with the goal of making a final recommendation to the TTUSD Board of Trustees on June 19.

Current THS Principal Greg Dettinger announced his resignation, effective at school year’s end, in early May, citing family reasons.
